Climbing
Damavand
With a high point of 5610.27 meters, Damavand is the highest mountain peak in
Iran located almost in the center of Alborz mountain range. Damavand is higher
than all west Asian & European mountain peaks. Damavand peak is situated in
Larijan district, southwest of Amol and 69 Kilometers northeast of Tehran. Damavand is an inactive volcanic mountain, always covered with snow. There
are no records of the last eruption, but there’s hot steam & sulfur gases coming
out at the top. Damavand contains about 70 volcanic mouths and one of them is
filled with a thick sulfur crest producing a beautiful conical peak with a
diameter of some 400 meters. The wrinkles of this mountain range extend to east
and the width of the range widens in a spot located between the Karaj - Chalus
road and Hezar valley. This section of the mountain represents three ranges beginning from the Lar &
Noor valleys. The highest spots of Alborz Mountain are located here. The heights
of peaks in this range are no less than 3500 meters and a few peaks come in
heights of over 4000 meters. In the middle of spring, there is a beautiful red
tulip plain in the world which has harmony with every season’s color. In spring
is red, in summer is green, in autumn is yellow & in winter is white. Moreover,
there is a lake named Lar, suitable for fishing and there are so many mineral
water springs. When the sky is clear and sunny, Damavand can be seen from Tehran
and other cities such as Amol, Sari, Qum & Kashan.

Sabalan
It is Iran’s second highest mountain peak located in the extreme North West
of Iran. A mountain higher than Mont Blanc in the Alps, with many lakes &
volcanic crater. At the height of 3600 meters and over, round the Sabalan
crater, there have emerged gigantic sculpture statues, as a result of volcanic
stone erosion, which resemble various creatures including animals, birds,
insects & etc... The most beautiful one of which is an eagle sculpture, as
though, it is maintaining control over the Sabalan slope and valley from the
top. The mountain enjoys specific attractions in various seasons of the year
where the mountain climber feels he has entered a land of dreams and wonders.
On the slopes of the mountain, there flows many mineral water springs which
attract thousands of tourists each year, and many have their pains healed in the
springs.
There are also many trails and a few very small villages in the area, as well
as many nomadic people with their round “Yurt” tents. Visiting and seeing these
more “Primitive” people is one of the best reasons for climbing the mountain.

Alamkooh Peak
Serious mountaineers find expeditions to Persia’s first class trails of more
than 80 over-4,000-meter mountains, a thrilling experience. A popular region,
involving climbing with technicality and difficulty level ranked "high", is Alam
Kuh at Takht-e Soleiman. There are some routes on the northern face initiated
and named after German, French, and Polish expeditions.
It is exactly like tiger wall in Alps. Alam Kuh’s common areas are well-known
and its alias name is Iran’s Switzerland, including Kelar Dasht & Sarab Rood.
It is rich in wildlife. Alam Kuh is the Third highest peak in Iran and probably
the one which Challenges climbers the most. Its North face is one of the more
impressive in the world, outside the Andes and the greater Himalayan Mountains.
It has about 1000 meters of vertical granite which is suitable for cliff
hanging & its Glacier that is near to Alam Kuh’s north wall is about 1400
meters.
The Second highest summit in this region and just as famous is Takht-e-Soleyman,
4650 meters. It is not as difficult to climb as Alam Kuh. Alam Kuh range is
famous for its wall & 14 peaks about 4000 m.
